He manages to ignorantly insult everyone-psychopaths, non-psychopathic females—and spread lots of misinformation. While declaring himself an expert when he is a fabulist.
'You think that females in general somehow are bestowed with honesty and integrity. That they are “caring” and “concerned”. Wow… you do not know anything about women… like at all.'
Thanks for the laugh! I read a book once by a guy who married a female 'psychopath', and he had equally, if not even even dumber, ideas. I can't remember the name of the book or the author's name, but he made a cottage industry out of his marriage and divorce. A few of his (paraphrased) tips on spotting them (female psychopaths):
Female psychopaths have acne because of their high testosterone levels
When female psychopaths go to sleep, it's like the switch to a machine is shut off the second she shuts her eyes. When she wakes up, it's like flipping the switch again.
Goth females are more likely to be pspychopaths
Sex with psychopaths is fantastic (probably because of all the acne-inducing testosterone)
Since his suffering was so incredibly over-the-top unique, his ex must have been a psychopath. I think he's on book 3 now.
So wait... she goes to sleep and she... sleeps? I mean, what does he think usually happens during sleep, a three ring circus? Seriously, a switch gets flipped in everyone. That's called sleep. I do not understand what he thought was going to be different.
Good lord on the rest, and not a diagnosis in sight I bet.
He was the diagnostician for sure. I remember at Sam Vatkin's sites, back in the day, NPD was the label du jour. Now, it's psychopath, because that's far more glamorous, and especially rare in females, so they say. One-Upmanship? But, I can't remember anything she did to warrant that dx, apart from leaving him—and having enviable sleep hygiene, I guess!
This guy sounds like an incel. He probably found out that his wife was an actual person with needs, like sleep, and not the goth rebel school girl like in his anime fantasy. Then he confused her being a person with psychopathy.
I vaguely remember that he had a punk rock garage type band, or something similar in Ireland. He also worked on Wall Street where he says that he was burned by more psychopaths. Somehow, the psychopathic wife was mixed up in his punk rock ambitions. He struck me as intelligent, but confused, wounded, bitter, paranoid, and sort of conspiratorial.
Honestly this does make sense now. As for him being burned by psychopaths on Wall Street, what did he expect? People burn, manipulate, and backstab each other all the time, especially in a highly competitive environment.
I doubt that most of the people that he met on Wall Street were actual psychopaths. Wall Street is not exactly a welcoming environment where everyone is included.
“I’ve been backstabbed by those psychopaths!” No bro, that’s just the culture of the upper class.
I can't imagine how a sensitive wannabe punk rocker ended up on Wall Street. At least, I think it had something to do with music. Fools rush in where angels fear to tread. Get burned, and blame it on someone else's psychopathy.
This man is better off hiring a dominatrix than writing papers about psychopathy. While I maybe bisexual myself, as soon as I see a man talk about ‘sexually seductive behaviour’ in relation to neurodivergent or mentally ill women, I stop taking him seriously.
I remember reading an article a few months back about a woman who was misdiagnosed with BPD. It was a male doctor who diagnosed her, and one of the reasons she was diagnosed was because she said she went on multiple dates a day. The doctor interpreted that as flirty and promiscuous behaviour. In reality she did that because she thought that it was normal to go on multiple dates a day if you’re single and looking for someone. She didn’t see anything wrong with it because she was being honest about what she was doing.
I unfortunately can’t find the article at the moment but if I do find it, I’ll be sure to post the link. Anyone reading this who does find the article, leaving a link will be appreciated.
While I do understand there are sexual disorders, I honestly think ‘sexual promiscuity’ is overused in diagnostic criteria.
Wow, that is insane to me. All it would have taken would be to have a conversation with her and listen to what she has to say. I don't know if BPD has the same problems as psychopathy does in this regard, but no matter what a psychopath says, it is immediately assumed that we are lying, so to not take it seriously. In my digging into the information for the post I am writing about BPD and psychopathy, the information that they are drawing from is flawed at best, and it is making it clear to me that I know very little about BPD, but what I do know doesn't seem to be in line with their findings when it comes to this so-called "overlap". A lot of it seems to be conflation matched with guesswork.
I don’t know much about BPD but I do know that BPD is a common misdiagnosis, especially among women and gender-queer people.
It reminds me that the field of psychology is very much a societal institution. The experts who work in this field are very much human with their own biases. I say this while also holding the caveat that it’s pretty much impossible to completely remove society’s influence. Even a hard science institution like physics is going to be affected by society to some extent. Scientists are people after all.
Because of this, whenever I see a statistic like men being more likely to be psychopaths than women, or women are more likely to have bipolar disorder than men, I have to ask the question, how much of this is bias of the researchers’ part, and how much of this is due to the actual nature of the conditons.
Wow, just wow. Well, if he didn't want to be confronted with harsh truths, he should have selected a different topic to pretend expertise in. I am amused by the "lean six sigma" in his resume which always leads me to wonder what a fat six sigma would be. But I would be surprised if he knew the difference between a t-test, chi-square, and correlating two contemporary but random facts to educe a hypothesis. But then I am a simple person who treats individuals as if each one is worthy of respect until proven otherwise and I have never tried to categorize behavior into male and female slots. I read this because Athena Walker commented on it, and I gained knowledge of the rot in academia when such nonsense gets published, nonsense I would never have bothered to read. Athena, thank you for trudging through the disinformation to test the waters for such lazy folk as I.
Actually, I found it! The author is Thomas Sheridan and is called "Puzzling People", and nothing could be more puzzling than this writer. I never finished it because it veered off into a psychotic mind-numbing vitriolic rant. Among his spot-a-psychopath tips includes something about ring finger size! All I understood was that he is an incredibly angry man with a thought disorder, and he thinks his 'psychopathic' ex is the reason why. I really don't know how this got published.
Ring finger size? How though? We all have different genetics. I have known women that have very small to very large hands. How does that have anything to do with "psychopathy"?
It doesn't. The thing is, Sheridan has a way with words, and he did plenty of research; he's obsessed. He admits in the beginning that he's not an academic, but claims that he's revealing information that academics know, but won't say because it wouldn't be P.C.. But, the book is a shambles.
He's an example of how a little knowledge can be a dangerous thing...
He manages to ignorantly insult everyone-psychopaths, non-psychopathic females—and spread lots of misinformation. While declaring himself an expert when he is a fabulist.
Yeah... I cannot believe this man is being touted as an "expert" when he has nothing to his name to make him one.
I like the word "fabulist."
So did my Significant Other, and I. It's a good word

How dare she?

"You didn't fulfill my fantasies... you psychopath!"
Seems possible

Goth female with acne… I sure hope he wasn’t married to a minor.
With some people, it wouldn't surprise me

It is becoming more and more evident that this is exactly the case.

Happy to help
… The MailOnline. That explains it.

Oh geez, I bet he's proud of himself.
Finally.
I get the impression that he is never deficient in feeling proud of himself.
