I literally hurt my sides laughing. I took a nap and woke up laughing. I know these people. They are oh so proud of their advanced degrees in abnormal psychology, etc. I drop your name so often, they think I am part of some dark scheme. Idiots are idiots. The world awards them. They have progeny. What a mess! Thank you, Athena.

Athena, I have been reading your posts over and over for many years (at least 5) and, I believe I am becoming knowledgeable and Do understand psychopathy (perhaps not completely, but as well as can be understood by a non-psychopath) based upon your writing and my 34-year experience of being part of a relationship with a psychopath. Thank you for the time you have taken to address psychopathy and presenting it in many ways -- today's comparison/dissecting is icing on the cake! The history you give to us enriches and is most valuable.

Thank you, NB. Happy to help

I love the way these writers will just toss a lot of entirely different things into a sort of intellectual stew and think they've done something profound.

I agree, and when someone asks them their reasoning, it is pretty much, because I say so.

After following your writing for a while, I find that it is really unsettling how much misinformation there is about psychopathy literally everywhere. It makes me feel better to know that psychopaths don't care about these unpleasant opinions of others .

Indeed, that is an upside.

This is great. I had been thinking of sending some of your material to a therapist friend who still uses the word psycopath in the colloquial sense and might be interested in what you have to say. This post is ideal beacuse of the embedded links to further discussion.

Well that should be interesting. Hopefully they are someone that is open to new ideas.

Well anyway... thank you for giving more insight on the psychopathy subject. It is both:

- very fun and interesting to read

- and i think with every sentence i read here - there is small increase in chance i might stop and think later in life if odd situations happen and ask about someone thought process to mayby understand it (instead of straight judging it)

I am surprised that she took her account down.

I rolled my eyes so many times at what this "author" wrote that I went to sleep.

Now that's funny

Brava. It’s very frustrating to see so much erroneous information out there. People looking for answers certainly don’t need to be inundated by these types of posts, quickly written to gain followers for money. A degree in psychology does not necessarily make one an expert, yet people who cannot (or just do not) think critically may see it as a ‘professional’ credential. Thank you, on behalf of all those out there who deserve those thoughtful, well-supported insights who may be a bit naïeve in this regard. I will make time to read them as soon as I’m able. :)

What's very interesting to me is that she doesn't even have her degree yet. She said, "I am finishing off my MSc, going on to do a PhD in the field". Well, that's nice for her, but I have spoken to many people who do have their degrees, and their entire education in abnormal psychology is usually one day. That is the entire contents of the specialty, not psychopathy, and of course the information that they get is the whole, psychopaths are evil criminal masterminds.

Yes -you have to deliberately specialize in abnormal psych for years (I did) to get a tiny bit of an understanding. People don’t know that psychology is a HUGE field - it’s about how the mind and all of the senses work, and covers so much that I don’t even have the energy to begin to list it.

It is a vast field. I understand that just from the psychopathy research. I get asked questions about things that I have no idea about frequently, and it is a continual reminder that I know very little about it.

After reading a number of your posts, the following dawned on me: How do psychopaths experience sex? It is really oxytocin heavy in the process, and I would suppose that since all of that is muted, the experience is very different... What have you heard from peers, for example?

The event itself can be fun, orgasms are great, but I have no interest in cuddling, of intimacy. It has no appeal to me.

That is interesting. I had thought that since your positive feelings are low key and drugs don't create euphoria, that the wash of chemocals during orgasms too would be just mildly enjoyable.

The actual event is enjoyable. I don't think there is a wash of chemicals for me.
