some of my closes friends in high school, well all of them, at one time or another expressed trepidation at my intense "ruthless" curiosity and apparent disregard for moral /ethical boundaries.

I can relate to the moral ethical boundaries when it comes to satisfying curiosity. I have certainly found myself butting up against those rules.
